Everyone can Join our Street Dance Crews. We accept students of all ages and of all levels. Beginners Welcome! |
Star Dance School is proud to announce a new option for our hip-hop and break-dancing students: Dance Crews.
Everyone can Join our Street Dance Crews. We accept students of all ages and of all levels. Beginners Welcome!
For those who are unfamiliar with the concept, a dance crew is very much like a team. The crew consists of anywhere between seven to twelve dancers. The crew members will practice, take lessons together, and perform for others. They will be expected to help each other out, think of cool moves and incorporate them into their dancing. It's a great way to get to know other dancers and you will push yourselves and your members to get better and better.
To start off, we will have three levels of dance crews: bronze, silver, and gold. Bronze is for beginners, silver is for intermediates, and gold is for advanced dancers. From September 1 through October 1, we will be holding tryouts to determine which crew the student belongs in. As crew members get better, they have the option of transferring to a higher level group, if approved by the instructor.
The crews will put on a show once every 3 months to show off their moves and tricks. With the instructor's help, the crew will put together a routine and perform it to an audience. As the student progresses from one crew to another, the moves and tricks will get progressively harder, and the routines will become more complicated and intricate. In order to keep up with your crew members, you will have to put in a lot of time and hard work to get better at your dancing.
Bronze crews will train one lesson a week with the instructor to go over new moves and build routines. Silver crews will train twice a week with the instructor. Gold crews will train twice a week with the instructor, as well as each member of the crew taking one private lesson a week to polish routines and learn the difficult moves that will be present in their routines.
Crew members have to show that they are motivated and that they are being team players. You don't want to make your crew look bad at the performances. To help out with this, we will also have practice sessions so that crews can meet up and go over their routines and help each other out if someone isn't getting a move. If you don't show enough dedication to your crew, you may be demoted to a lower level crew, so make sure you keep practicing and working hard!
