It is a dramatic partner dance, with staccato movement, sharp head snaps, and is danced in either open embrace, with the couple having some distance between their bodies, or in close embrace, where the couple is tightly connected at either the hip or the chest area. Rumba is a latin-american ballroom dance that is called sometimes a dance of love. Rumba is a very sensual, passionate, and romantic dance, with slow rhythms and hip movements that create intense bodily expressions. It is one of the most popular ballroom dances and is seen around the world at nightclubs, parties, weddings and dance competitions. Rumba is one of the five dances of the "Latin American" program of international ballroom dance competitions, International Latin Ballroom Dancing Style.
An exciting syncopated latin dance, the Cha-Cha-Cha originated in Cuba. The Cha Cha Cha is a lively, flirtatious ballroom dance full of passion and energy. The music for the international ballroom cha-cha-cha is energetic and with a steady beat. The classic "Cuban motion" gives the Cha Cha its unique style. Cha-cha-cha is one of the five dances of the "Latin American" program of international ballroom competitions. This dance is included in both American and International Latin dance syllabus.
Jive is a ballroom dance style that
originated in the United States from
African-Americans. Fast and energetic
dance, it derived from Swing, Lindy Hop,
Rock and Roll, Salsa and others. Jive is
known for its unique, athletic style, and
often contains kicks, aerial jumps, twists
and flips. It could be danced both socially,
and competitively. Jive is the last of the
five dances of the International Latin dance
syllabus, Latin American program of
international ballroom dance competitions.
Salsa is an extremely sexy, flowing popular social dance used to Latin Salsa music. An energetic, fast-paced dance that can be intricate, it requires a strong male lead dancer. Salsa can be danced in any social dance setting, and competitively as well. Salsa is great for a wedding dance.
Hip-hop dancing incorporates a variety of old and new urban dance styles, such as breakdancing or b-boying, b-girling, popping, locking and boogying, and emerged in 1970s in South Bronx, New York City. The dancing represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop music. Breakdancing, breaking, b-boying, or b-girling is a popular style of street dance that was born and developed as part of hip-hop culture among African Americans and Latino youths in Bronx, New York in the 1970's. As a hip-hop dance, it is usually danced to hip hop music, and incorporates intricate body movements, strong acrobatic moves, coordination, style, spontaneity, and fashion.
